PRIVATE COUPLES WORKSHOP

Private Couples Workshop:
Invest One Day in Your Relationship — Gain Tools for a Lifetime
Every couple faces challenges, and the way you navigate them makes all the difference. This one day private workshop - just for you two - is designed to help couples understand their communication patterns, recognise unhelpful cycles, and learn the fundamental skills that support a healthier, more connected relationship.
You'll be guided through the foundational knowledge of what supports and derails relationships, and given practical tools to improve emotional regulation, communication, and conflict resolution.
What you'll learn together:
-
Emotional regulation - grounding techniques for tough conversations or emotionally challenging times.
-
Time out - how to properly pause conflict (not avoid it), for better resolution.
-
The developmental stages healthy long-term relationships mature through.
-
Boundaries, limits, and expectations - the difference between these and navigating them fairly.
-
Your conflict cycle - what's underneath that frustrating pattern, and how to break out of it.
-
Five 'winning' and 'losing' strategies - the key relationship behaviours that can strengthen or injure your connection.
-
A two-part model for staying protected and connected in communication.
-
Deep listening - how to show you really understand your partner.
-
The mindset required for a long-lasting, loving partnership.
What's the difference between couples therapy and this one-day workshop?
Couples therapy sessions:
-
Regular 90 minute sessions weekly or fortnightly that build on one another, usually over a minimum of 2 months.
-
Deep work that explores your histories as individuals and as a couple, and how that influences your relationship.
-
Tailored content to your personal needs.
-
Practical tools and strategies, and the opportunity to troubleshoot their use in subsequent sessions.
-
Allows for repairing of unresolved past hurts or betrayals.
-
Homework between sessions to keep the learning alive and build your confidence to manage issues at home.
-
Sessions available Tuesday - Friday, hours vary by day.
Private couples workshop:
-
Five hour, one day intensive for the two of you - a practical alternative for couples who want to strengthen their relationship but may not be able to commit to regular joint therapy sessions.
-
The core practical tools and strategies that most couples need.
-
Less personal, so not as intimidating for those who are unsure about the idea of therapy.
-
Instead of processing issues in depth, this workshop focuses on what you can do differently right now to begin improving your relationship.
-
Walk away with clear strategies you can start using the same day to strengthen your connection.
-
Weekday (Tues - Fri) or Saturday availability.
Is this workshop right for you?
This workshop is designed for couples who want to improve their communication, understand their relationship patterns, and build healthier ways of relating to each other.
However, it may not be the right fit if:
-
You're in immediate crisis. If you’re facing a major relationship problem, such as an affair discovery or a potential separation, couples therapy will provide the appropriate in-depth support to navigate these challenges.
-
The relationship has been impacted by significant or severe issues. If you need help working through very entrenched problems, such as repairing trust and betrayal issues, trauma, long-standing resentment, or significant relationship distress/intense conflict, ongoing therapy would be a more effective option.
-
You're wanting space to unpack and examine or resolve events in the relationship - this workshop is largely an educational format, with opportunities for self reflection. In order to have enough time to cover a wide range of the most useful tools, there won't be room to discuss or work through specific situations like you would in therapy.
-
One or both partners are unwilling to participate. For this workshop to be a good investment, both of you need to be open to learning, giving and receiving feedback, and making changes together.
-
You no longer like and respect each other. A foundation of goodwill is necessary in order to be willing to use new skills and change patterns.
-
There's been abuse. If your relationship includes any form of abuse, specialised support is the appropriate next step.
-
There are other current mental health, addiction, or otherwise pressing issues that need attending to first - while some co-occurring issues might be supported by learning to communicate more effectively, others may need to be prioritised and addressed through individual support and therapy so that you can then get the most out of the couples workshop.
If you're unsure whether this workshop is right for you, feel free to reach out and we can discuss.

3. Can we continue straight into couples therapy with you after the workshop?

We can discuss whether you would like to join the waitlist or look for another couples therapist with more immediate availability to continue your relationship work after the workshop.
4. Do you offer the couples workshop online?
Not at this time - all workshops are in-person only due to the comfort and concentration required.
5. Do you have a discount for younger couples?
Yes! I love supporting younger couples who are establishing careers and building their lives together, so if you are both under 30 I am happy to discount the workshop rate by 10%.
