RELATIONSHIP WORKSHOP FOR INDIVIDUALS

Relationship & Communication Skills for Individuals:
Tools for Personal and Interpersonal Growth
Close relationships — whether romantic, family, or friendships — can be complicated. Maybe you struggle with holding boundaries, feeling overwhelmed in conflict, or finding yourself repeating the same frustrating patterns. Or maybe you just want to understand yourself better so you can build stronger, healthier connections.
This half-day personal workshop is designed for individuals — whether single, dating, or in a relationship — who want to develop the skills to navigate all kinds of relationships with more confidence, clarity, and ease.
What you'll learn:
-
Your attachment style - gain an understanding of your 'default settings' so you can choose to respond rather than react.
-
The developmental stages healthy relationships mature through.
-
A two-part model for feeling both protected and connected when communicating with others.
-
Emotional regulation – how to manage strong feelings that can derail communication and connection.
-
Boundaries, limits, reasonable needs, and expectations - the difference between these and navigating them fairly.
-
Five 'winning' and 'losing' strategies - learn the key behaviours that can strengthen or injure relationships.
-
Deep listening - how to really hear and show you understand someone.
Differences between individual therapy and this workshop:
Individual therapy:
-
Regular 1:1 sessions that build on one another, usually over a period of months.
-
Deep work that explores your history and allows you to process difficult events and learnings.
-
Personalised goals and content for your individual needs.
-
Practical tools and strategies, and the opportunity to troubleshoot their use in subsequent sessions.
-
Sessions available Tuesday - Friday, hours vary by day.
Relationship and communication workshop:
-
Half day intensive - a practical alternative for those who want to focus on their relationship skills but may not be able to commit to regular therapy sessions.
-
Attend with a friend! Discounts for two or more individuals attending together (Are you a couple interested in attending a workshop together to strengthen your relationship? Check out the Private Couples Workshop).
-
The core practical relationship tools and strategies that most people need but aren't taught.
-
More educational and less personal, so not as intimidating for those who are unsure about therapy.
-
Instead of processing issues in depth, this workshop focuses on what you can do differently right now to improve your relationships.
-
Walk away with clear strategies you can start using the same day to strengthen your connections of all types.
-
Weekday (Tues - Fri) or Saturday availability.
Is this workshop right for you?
This workshop is designed for individuals who are looking to improve their communication, understand their relationship patterns, and go home with practical tools and techniques for healthier connections.
However, it may not be the right fit if:
-
You’re looking for couples therapy – This workshop is for individuals who want to work on their own contribution to relationships. If you're hoping to focus on the dynamic of your issues as a couple, regular couples therapy sessions or the Private Couples Workshop may be more helpful.
-
You're wanting space to unpack and examine events in a current or past relationship - this session is an educational format, with opportunities for self reflection. In order to have enough time to cover a wide range of the most useful tools, there won't be room to discuss or work through personal situations like you would in therapy.
-
You’re in a relationship that feels unsafe – If you're experiencing emotional or physical harm, the most important thing is your safety. Support from a professional specialising in these issues may be a better first step. (Unsure if behaviours in your relationship are OK? Have a look here).
-
You're not in the headspace to explore your own patterns or try new approaches – Growth in relational skills involves self-reflection and a willingness to experiment with different ways of thinking and communicating. If that feels too overwhelming right now, it may be best to wait until you've got the capacity to do that.
-
You’re struggling with challenges that need specialised support – If you're currently dealing with significant mental health concerns, such as untreated trauma, a personality or mood disorder such as Borderline Personality Disorder or Bipolar Disorder, or severe anxiety/clinical depression, prioritise your own wellbeing and relationship with yourself first. Working with a therapist one-on-one can help you to feel steadier and more confident to then tackle relational issues with other people.
If you're unsure whether this workshop is right for you, feel free to reach out and we can discuss.
FAQs
1. What's included in the day?

~4 hours of concentrated learning material, with breaks.

2. Can I attend with my partner?
Couples interested in their own personal development and relationship skills can absolutely attend together. I encourage couples to also review the Private Couples Workshop outline to see if the additional material in it better meets your needs, particularly if there is conflict in your relationship.
3. What's the cost?
The workshop cost is $590 per person for weekday workshops (Tuesday - Friday) or $740 for Saturday workshops. Bring a friend or two and receive 15% off each. Payment plans are available.
4. Can I continue straight into individual therapy with you after the workshop?
My waitlist for regular therapy clients is often long, which is one of the reasons I decided to start offering this workshop. We can discuss whether you would like to join the waitlist or look for another therapist to start or continue your therapy journey after the workshop.
5. Do you offer the workshop online?
Not at this time - all workshops are in-person only due to the comfort and concentration required.
